The search is on for "local heroes" who have made a difference in their neighbourhood.

Shepherds Bush Housing Group, which manages properties across west London, has launched its Love Local Hero awards, in partnership with Ealing Council and Hammersmith and Fulham Volunteer Centre.

The competition is being held to celebrate "unsung heroes" living or working in west London whose commitment helps improve the lives of others.

Three winners will receive a certificate, a £40 gift voucher and a personalised mug, as well as being honoured on the housing association's website.

Russell Caller, chair of SBHG's board, said: "These awards are the perfect opportunity for us to celebrate the unsung heroes of our west London community.

"They recognise those who make a real difference to the community and the community a better place for everyone.

"It only a takes a couple of minutes to nominate and I would encourage anyone who may know a local hero to put them forward for this worthy award."

Nominations are now open, and the deadline is April 28. To put someone forward, visit the SBHG website or write to Mulliner House, Flanders Road, W4 1NN including the nominee's details and a recent photo of him/her if possible.
