In support of Movember, London's cycle hire scheme Santander Cycles will be adding handlebar moustaches to 1,000 of their bikes this month.

The 'Mocycle' is 18 inches long, slighter larger than a conventional moustache, and will both look dapper and raise funds for the Movember Foundation.

Movember is a global charity which raises funds and awareness for men's health, with millions of men growing moustaches to show their support.

This year their new initiative is the MOVE challenge, encouraging men and women to make 30 MOVES in two days, whether walking, excersing or cycling.

Laura Mair for Movember says: “We hope that seeing a Santander Cycle with a Mo will prompt people to think what activity they could add to their day.”

Santander will donate £1 to the foundation for every image of a Mo on a Santander Cycle shared on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #MoCycle.

They will also donate £3 for every image of one of the 200 limited edition gold moustaches.

Keith Moor, Chief Marketing Officer at Santander, said: “We hope people will have a bit of fun spotting the moustaches and sharing their pictures, while at the same time raising funds and awareness for Movember.”

Throughout the month, participants will be selected at random to win spot prizes including free hire codes and Movember baseball caps signed by Rory McIlroy.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson MP said: “It's fantastic to see some of our Santander Cycles following the example of millions of men around the world by sprouting a Mo for Movember.”
