Sadiq Khan told Jeremy Corbyn he must "walk the walk" and ensure a win for the Labour Party in elections.

In a speech delivered to audiences at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool, the Mayor of London said: "Labour in power - not just talking the talk, but walking the walk too."

The thinly veiled words served as a clear reminder to Corbyn that the party must be more electable and only then can they make the changes they need to.

Mr Khan, who backed Owen Smith in the Labour leadership contest, continued: "Labour out of power will never ever be good enough. We can only improve lives with Labour in power...and when Labour's not in power, we fail the very people who need us most."

Mr Khan - whose election as Mayor gave him the biggest personal mandate of any politician in UK history with more than 1.1 million votes, appeared to look tearful as he made his plea for Labour to return powerful.

Mentioning the word 38 times, he told the audience how being in opposition will never be enough to rival the Tories.
