A brand new running event is coming to London and it is right on our doorstep.
Richmond Park is to be the host of a 10 mile run this summer, which will become London's only major 10 mile running event.
So no excuses for breaking your New Year's resolution to get fit! It's time to lace up and get training.
The event is taking place on June 4, with up to 10,000 runners expected to descend on the Royal Park.
Richmond Park itself will be closed off to traffic, allowing runners to enjoy the beauty of the parkland.
The event is organised by CSM Active who aim to make the run the most family-friendly running event and are encouraging the community to come together to enjoy a day out in the park.
There will also be a one mile Family Fun Run for younger runners and a free 'Picnic in the Park' with music and children's entertainment throughout the afternoon, perfect for those non runners amongst you.
The event was launched by Lord Sebastian Coe, chairman of CSM Sport & Entertainment alongside executive chairman, Jon Ridgeon.
Lord Coe said accessibility is key: “The London 10 Mile is an important event for the business as it represents the first of a number of running events we will be launching in 2017.
"The accessibility, popularity and benefits, both physical and mental, of running is why the sport is a key part our growth strategy in the mass participation sector.”
The event is in partnership with parkrun, supporting grassroots running in the UK and runners taking part will have the opportunity to run for charity as the event has partnered up with Great Ormond Street Hospital .
Laura Savory, Head of Community Fundraising at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity said: “We are delighted to be the official charity partner for the London 10 Mile which is such an exciting addition to the running calendar.
"The charity helps fund pioneering new research, the most up to date medical equipment, support services for children and their families, and supports the essential rebuilding and refurbishment of the hospital so all money raised will make a vital difference. "
And if you needed any more encouragement to enter, all runners will receive free event photographs, a medal, a goody bag and a free three month trail for a running training programme.
And you will also receive an electronic timing chip, so the serious runners out there can try an attempt at a personal best.
Entries are now open, just click here to enter.
