Rogue Feltham millionaire landlord's illegal outhouse is reduced to rubble

The Lotto winner built the Feltham outbuilding and rented it out for £600 per month, but denied it was anything to do with him

A double lottery winner in Feltham has been forced to demolish an illegal outbuilding at his home.

Millionaire rogue landlord George Traykov's luck ran out after Hounslow council's housing enforcement team piled pressure on to take down the outhouse in his garden or face prosecution and a hefty fine of up to £20k.

A battle ensued between the two sides with Mr Traykov finally demolishing the building at the back of his home on Shakespeare Avenue on July 29.

At first Mr Traykov claimed it had been built by the previous owners, but aerial photography records proved this was not the case.

Residents then reported the EuroMillions and Lotto Millionaire raffle winner was renting the outhouse to tenants, another claim he denied.

However, a visit by housing enforcement officers revealed the outhouse had been designed for residential use with a front door, letterbox, toilet and shower.

Further investigations revealed it was being let to two tenants for £600 a month.

A number of letters were sent to Mr Traykov notifying him of the breach of planning laws, followed by an official enforcement notice in March this year to demolish the outbuilding.

He appealed against the enforcement orders but lost due to the evidence against him.

This was not the first time Mr Traykov has faced enforcement action for an illegal outbuilding – he suffered the same fate at a property in Harrow.

Councillor Steve Curran, leader of Hounslow council, said: “We’re delighted that Mr Traykov has voluntarily demolished his illegal outbuilding, which at one point was being used to house tenants.

“Mr Traykov has buckled under the pressure of our housing enforcement team and has taken matters into his own hands, avoiding a court appearance, potential fine or further direct action by us to demolish the building ourselves and bill him for the costs.

“Mr Traykov is not the only person we have in our sights. All rogue landlords who build properties in our borough without planning permission, can expect a knock on the door from our housing enforcement officers.”

In June, a homeowner in Feltham was fined £16,000 for converting a side extension into two self-contained open plan studio flats.

In a separate shocking discovery in July, 31 people were found to be living in a rented property in Wembley, with the woman of the household living in an unheated and unlit outbuilding .
