A 26-year-old man has been found guilty after putting a member of the public through a "horrendous ordeal" in a road rage incident on the M4.

Cecil Kwakye of Otter Way, West Drayton continuously stopped his car in front of a 52-year-old woman on the motorway and even blocked her from leaving via a slip road.

The woman was driving on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway at about 7pm on December 19 2016 when Kwakye joined at Junction 10 for Reading and pulled in front of her without indicating, police said.

The BMW driver flashed her headlights at Kwakye who then stopped his vehicle in front of her, in the fast lane of the busy motorway.

The victim maneuvered her car around Kwakye's but he kept stopping in front of her until she felt forced to leave the motorway in "considerable fear".

When she attempted to take an exit and turn off, Kwakye prevented her from leaving the motorway by blocking the slip road with his car, Reading Crown Court heard.

The west Londoner forced the victim to pull into the hard shoulder twice, on one occasion stopping in front of her and then reversing down the motorway, towards her.

The BMW driver managed to stop her car on the hard shoulder at Junction 5, near Slough, and police attended, arresting the 26-year-old at the scene.

He was charged with one count of dangerous driving on January 28 2017 and found guilty unanimously by a jury at Reading Crown Court on Tuesday (October 3).

He is due to be sentenced at a date which has not yet been confirmed.

Cecil Kwakye put his victim through a "horrendous ordeal" on the M4 motorway between Reading and Slough

Investigating officer, PC Marcus Audoin of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “This was a sustained road rage incident during which Kwakye put another member of the public through a horrendous ordeal by pursuing her for many miles along the motorway.

"During the pursuit he performed a variety of dangerous manoeuvres, including braking to try and force her to a stop her vehicle, all because she flashed her headlights at him.

“When the victim stopped her car on the hard shoulder in the hope Kwakye would drive off, he stopped and reserved towards her vehicle.

“Kwakye showed no consideration for the safety of the victim or other road users.

"He put the victim in considerable fear.

“On behalf of the police and the public, I am grateful to the victim for providing her evidence to the court resulting in this conviction.”
