A lorry crashed into a bollard in Hayes today (Friday, October 23), sending some 200 litres of fuel spilling onto the road, London Fire Brigade has said.

Firefighters were called to Pump Lane near to the junction with Coldharbour Lane this morning at about 11.15, an LFB spokesman said.

"It appears an articulated lorry was in collision with a bollard and leaked approximately 200 litres of diesel," he added.

Pump Lane and Little Road were both closed while the mess was mopped up, but Hillingdon Council tweeted that the vehicle and the fuel had been removed, and both roads reopened, by 2.30pm.

No one is believed to have been injured, according to the LFB.
