A road was closed in Hammersmith on Tuesday (August 16) after a suspect package sparked a security scare.

Police sealed off a part of the Broadway near the junction with Shepherd’s Bush Road outside the Ladbrokes betting shop shortly after 1pm, before it was reopened at around 2.15pm.

A spokesperson for the Met said the cause of the scare was a suspect package.

Toby Wright was at the scene. He was told by a police officer that the closure was in place due to a “possible terrorist incident”.

It is the latest in a line of security scares in west London. Last month Kensington Gardens was evacuated following a bomb scare , before the suspicious package was found to be a jacket.

And Putney Bridge station in Fulham was closed a few days later when a suitcase caused sparked another scare.
