A reward of up to £2,000 has been offered to anyone who can help identify a cyclist who risked death by jumping a level crossing, narrowly avoiding a speeding train.

The cyclists actions, described as 'aggressive' saw the man lift his bike and force his way between barriers at a level crossing in North Sheen, Richmond on the morning of Thursday May 11.

He made it through the barriers at the Manor Road crossing in Richmond but stopped just short of the tracks as a speeding train went past, causing the train driver psychological trauma.

The man yelled at concerned onlookers as he forced his way onto a level crossing

The man can be heard yelling "I don't f***ing care, mate" as he forces his way through the barriers, with a footbridge visible in the background.

Footage of the man's dice with death was posted on twitter by @Laughingcow 4, and picked up by broadcaster, cyclist and west Londoner Jeremy Vine, who described the man as a 'level crossing loon'.

The man even later climbed back over the barrier.

Crimestoppers, an independent charity, are offering a reward of up to £2,000 to anyone who can identify the cyclist, who was wearing a cap, a pair of shorts and a puffa jacket and was believed to be riding a mountain bike.

Dave Hunter, Crimestoppers’ Head of Operations, said: “This man could have caused himself serious injury or even death. His actions were incredibly dangerous.

"Someone will know who he is and we hope they will see that there is no excuse for this behaviour. The barriers are there for a very good reason.

“As an independent charity, Crimestoppers offers a safe way for people to give information about crime. Anyone who knows who this man is should contact us in on 0800 555 111 or use our non-traceable secure online form.

"You will remain 100% anonymous. We won’t ask for your personal details - you won’t have to give a statement to police or appear in court. We just need to know this man’s name.”
