Four west London boroughs have been found to have the lowest mortality rates in the UK according to new figures.

Residents in Kensington and Chelsea were found to be the second least likely to die with a mortality rate of just 609.8 per 100,000 population.

Trumping the borough for the top spot in the UK was the City of London at 407.

According to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics, the City of London had the lowest age-standardised mortality rate (ASMR) in 2014.

In 2014, the ASMR for the UK was 968.3 deaths per 100,000 population.

These ASMRs are for all causes and cover all ages, they are directly age-standardised to the 2013 European Standard Population, which allows comparisons between populations with different age structures and over time.

In general, London had the lowest ASMR compared to other regions in the UK, with 875.7 deaths per 100,000 population.

Richmond came second in west London and third overall in the UK, at 710 deaths, while Westminster had an average of 726.2, in 6th place.

Just inside the top 10 for the UK for least mortality rates was Harrow , in eighth place with 734.9 deaths per 100,000.
