The Ealing Half Marathon is returning for a third time next year with the date of the next event confirmed as Sunday September 28.

Registration for the 2014 race is now open, with a limited number of early bird places available.

The Alzheimer’s Society has been announced as the headline charity for the Ealing Half Marathon, and a range of other charities have also chosen the race as a platform to raise funds and awareness.

Race director Kelvin Walker said: "We are pleased to announce that the Ealing Half Marathon 2014 has been launched and that registration is now open. The 2013 race was a huge success with lots of positive feedback, and we look forward to delivering another great event in 2014.

"We are very grateful for all the support we receive in organising and delivering the Ealing Half Marathon, and we feel passionate about spreading the #EalingFeeling amongst runners and residents. We would also like to welcome Alzheimer’s Society on board as our headline charity for 2014."

The Ealing Half Marathon 2013 saw over 4,000 runners cross the finish line in Lammas Park and new course records were claimed with winner Matthew Kiprotich Kimutai from Run-Fast completing the course in 1:04:33 and Gladys Ruto securing a new women’s course record in 1:15:28.

The event starts in West London’s Lammas Park and is a 13.1 mile single lap course taking in parts of Central Ealing, Montpelier, Pitshanger, West Ealing, Hanwell and St Stephens before returning to Lammas Park.

Kat Cox from the Alzheimer’s Society said: "This event has a fantastic, friendly feel to it and we would love to welcome runners to the Alzheimer's Society team. If you would like to help raise vital funds to support the 70,000 people living with dementia in London, simply complete our online form at www.alzheimers.org.uk/running or call us on 0845 306 0898 after securing a place in the run."

Public places cost £32 for affiliated runners and £34 for unaffiliated runners, and all finishers receive a distinctive medal and an online e-goody bag after the race. A limited number of Early Bird Places are available, giving runners £5 off the standard entry fee.
