Remembrance Sunday: Memorial events in west London where you can pay respects

A number of events will be taking place across the weekend as the capital pays its respects to those who have given their lives in military service

Held annually, Remembrance Sunday traditionally honours the sacrifices made during World War One.

Marked on the Sunday which falls closest to November 11, it has now become a day to remember all of those who have given their lives for their country, whilst also honouring those currently serving.

Marking the end of the First World War , on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, also known as Armistice Day, the country falls silent to remember.

Remembrance Sunday , which this year falls on November 12, is the day when people gather together to remember.

Parades and services take place and poppy wreaths are laid at war memorials, with many people wearing a poppy out of respect.
