Livid readers have reacted to the robbery of a couple in Chelsea , where thieves threatened a baby with a knife.

The crime happened in Sprimont Place at 3.30pm on Saturday (September 2), when two males on a moped stole watches belonging to the victims .

Police appealed for information on Tuesday (September 5) with a video which included desperate and harrowing screaming in the background as the moped sped from the scene towards Elystan Place, leaving the victims shaken but uninjured.

On the getwestlondon Facebook page , readers were left outraged, and spoke of the recent spate of crimes involving mopeds and scooters.

Anju Joshi wrote: “Scums and cowards. Using a baby for their crime. Why can’t they get up and work like others. There needs to be stringent laws about using moped as this has been going on for years even in central London.”

Darren Clay warned: “It will not be long before people start taking the law into their own hands. The police and soft law in this country do nothing. Its a human right to be able to protect yourself.”

Rizwan Akhtar fears a tragedy soon. He wrote: “It’s only a matter of time before they try and rob the wrong person and someone gets killed!

“Scumbags don’t do a days work in there lives and are happy to just rob people.”

And Sandy Doran lamented: “What on earth is this world coming to and where are the police, the whole country is falling apart at the seams.”

The victims were a 31-year-old woman and 32-year-old man.

Scotland Yard told getwestlondon on Wednesday (September 6) afternoon that no arrests have been made and inquiries are continuing.

Both suspects were wearing black crash helmets, and are described as being white males wearing navy blue tracksuits and black Nike trainers.
