Two people managed to avoid serious injury after the car they were travelling in hit the fence at Royal Air Force (RAF) Northolt.

Paramedics attended the scene on Tuesday afternoon (30 June) and took the casualties to Northwick Park Hospital and Hillingdon Hospital.

One of the occupants had to be cut free from the vehicle, which was reported as having "overturned".

On Wednesday (July 1) the London Ambulance Service described the condition of the two people as "walking wounded" and "not serious".

The car crashed into the fence that surrounds the RAF Northolt base, on the A40 Western Avenue.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said 14 firefighters attended from the Wembley and Northolt stations.

The incident which happened before the Polish War Memorial caused severe traffic delays.

A spokesperson for the RAF said: “RAF Northolt fire and medical crews provided an immediate response to the incident.

"They worked alongside the civilian emergency services, stabilising casualties and helping to extract one casualty from a vehicle.

"Operations on the unit were unaffected.2
