A car overturned after hitting the fence that surrounds RAF Northolt on Tuesday afternoon.

One of the two people injured in the collision had to be cut free from their vehicle by fire crews.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade told GetWestLondon: "We were called at around 1:20pm.

"Three fire engines were sent to the scene of the accident where one adult was cut from their vehicle, and was taken to hospital by London Ambulance service.

"Another person was injured and treated by paramedics on the scene."

The incident which happened before the Polish War Memorial caused severe traffic delays eastbound.

An eyewitness who was stuck in the traffic, said: "The car had gone onto the airfield and the fence is down.

"Police and firefighters were there and a lot of army men."

A total of 14 firefighters attended from the Wembley and Northolt stations.

Traffic warnings were still being issued as 'severe' at 3:30pm but all lanes have now been re-opened.
