Stuart Lynn's takeaway receipt which reads 'white ppl'

Having ordered a "mild" curry from Southall's Valentine Restaurant, one customer was shocked to see his receipt labelled with 'white ppl'.

Stuart Lynn, of Northolt, was flabber-ghasted to see his receipt from the Indian eatery marked with 'white ppl' and said he "was not happy at all".

Despite the owner of Valentine Restaurant claiming 'white ppl' actually referred to a white sauce, Mr Lynn said he "won't be going back".

So, is this a racist slur or is Mr Lynn just making a meal of it?

Getwestlondon asked its readers on social media for their thoughts:

Sonia Dass: Get over it and does it really matter? Bet you enjoyed your food regardless of what receipt says?

Gary Smith: Time for Stuart to grow up.

Sol Ange: Cook at home to avoid idiots.

Geeta Moudgil: This is totally racist! Ppl does not mean milk.

Conor Dirks: The fact that this dude actually couldn't deal with strong curries really undercuts his position.

Naomi Clark: I've been laughing for five minutes at this restaurateur's dodge about 'white ppl' being a cream & coconut milk sauce.

Sarah Tuttle: 'Ppl means milk'. Mwhahaha. As a white person who is terrible with heat, I'm wildly un-offended. But amused.

Charlotte Charmaine Elms: Stupid thing to complain about, bet he still ate the curry.

So what is 'ppl'?

When asked to explain why "ppl" was short for milk, Valentine Restaurant owner Ruby Kandasamy refused, angering Stuart Lynn who said: "What other colour is milk? They're just trying to get out of it."

Getwestlondon spoke to two other restaurants in the area to find out if they knew what 'white ppl' was. But no one we spoke to could tell us the basic ingredients to make a 'white ppl' sauce.

Perhaps it's a Valentines special...
