Thousands of packets of frozen Quorn mince have been recalled after fears it may contain small pieces of metal.

A total of 12,000 packs of the meat-free product limited to a single batch sold to Tesco pose a safety risk.

Quorn Foods has said it became aware of the issue on Tuesday (February 28) and arranged for an immediate recall as a precaution.

Customers who bought the product before Monday (February 27) are not affected.

Getwestlondon has put together a list of Tesco Extra stores in your area:

The Food Standards Agency along with Quorn Foods has urged customers not to eat the product as a matter of safety.

The 300g mince packs have a best-before date of August 31, 2018 and batch code number 136331.

The company has said it was an "isolated production issue".

A statement from Quorn Foods said: "The safety and wellbeing of our customers is our number one priority, which is why we instigated this recall as soon as we became aware of the issue.

"The product recall is limited to Tesco stores only and any products purchased prior to 27 February 2017 are not affected by this product recall."

No other batches or any other Quorn products are affected.

Customers are advised to return the item to the retailer for a full refund.
