Happy birthday to Her Majesty The Queen !

Our monarch turned 90 on Friday (June 10), having already celebrated her first birthday in April, and parties have been held in west London, and indeed all over the country to celebrate the landmark occasion.

As well as events on Friday, street parties were held on Sunday (June 12) as communities came together to wish Queen Elizabeth II many happy returns.

The traditional birthday honours were also announced, with several names having received well-deserved recognition for their tireless work for the nation and the communities within.

You can even stay in the pub for two extra hours tonight and on Saturday to mark the occasion.

Here we take a look at some of the celebrations that took place over the weekend in celebration of our Queen's birthday.

In the meantime, try our 90-second quiz to find out how well you know The Queen.

Ickenham garden gathering gets the parties started

Celebrations started early for 23 people who met in a beautiful garden in Ickenham on Thursday for The Queen’s 90th birthday.

The women have all been members of Ickenham National Women’s register (NWR) mostly for more than 40 years; but the centrepiece of the celebrations was ‘Garden Queen’, a two-foot figure giving the typical regal wave, over whom ‘Happy Birthday’ was sung.

At tables covered in red, white and blue and surrounded by bunting, guests happily sat in the sunshine to eat a mound of sandwiches and cakes, with many cups of tea.
