Two people have been charged with murder after a body was found so badly burnt that the victim could not be identified.

The remains of the body were found at a residential address in Putney on Wednesday (September 20) at around 6.26pm.

Metropolitan Police officers arrived at the Wimbledon Park Road property following reports of a fire and a person deceased.

A body was found at the scene but was too badly burned to establish the gender and age.

A post-mortem will be held in due course.

Ouissem Medouni, a 40-year-old resident of Pulborough Road, was arrested and charged on Wednesday (September 22).

Medouni was arrested and charged alongside 34-year-old Sabrina Kouider, also of Pulborough Road.

The pair will appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Friday (September 22).

The Metropolitan Police's Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) is leading the investigation.
