At about 11am the bus mounted the pavement and impacted with a wall on the Putney side of the bridge. The London Ambulance Service treated three people, including the bus driver who was taken to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital by ambulance to be treated for a chest injury.

At 12:14pm Wandsworth Council tweeted that the parapet wall had sustained damage from the bus and traffic diversions would be in place until 1.15pm.

At 12:40pm it was reported that a car had been involved in the accident. The female driver was treated for minor injuries by paramedics at the scene.

Later at 1:20pm Transport for London confirmed that the collision has been cleared and the 424 bus service was running as normal. Motorists were warned however to expect residual delays.

Enquires are ongoing into the circumstances of the incident.

Earlier we reported how Putney Bridge will be closed next week as part of a lengthy series of repairs which will cause disruption to the travelling public until October.
