An address in East Acton which was allegedly used by drug users and young people at “all hours of the day and night” has been closed by Metropolitan Police .

Following a number of complaints about the “problematic address” in Westvale Mews, a warrant was sought for the three-month closure of the property.

West London residents provided the local team with enough evidence to obtain a warrant to enter the property and subsequently close it temporarily.

Inspector Aaron Clarke of Acton cluster said their actions on Wednesday (September 20) will “give some reassurance to surrounding residents”.

He said: “Knife crime is often linked to drug activity and, as part of Operation Renounce, East Acton Safer Neighbourhood Team, supported by the Anti-Social Behaviour Team, set about closing an address linked to drugs and ASB.

“[We] took an active interest when residents complained about a nearby address, at the centre of which were young people coming from the house at all hours of day and night.”

Police officers broke in the door of the East Acton property

Metropolitan Police's closure order was obtained at Ealing Magistrates' Court and means no-one can enter the property during the temporary closure.

Police officers can return to court if they wish to extend the order after the three months.

“The reason why we've got this closure order is that we've had lots of complaints from local residents about ASB,” said Police Constable Andrew Christian of the East Acton ward.

A closure order was sought after local residents complained about the property

“This includes things such as noise nuisance, drug taking and people loitering.

“The closure order means that from now this premises closed for everyone for three months - that means no one can come into the premises and no one can continue ASB.

“The local residents are really pleased, they've been putting up with lots of ASB in this area for quite a long time now.

“We've listened to their concerns and they are now looking forward to a quieter more peaceful life.”
