January has launched as it always does for west London, with a spate of horrid crimes, an immigration arrest and some good news of a major store opening has dominated the news this week.

Uxbridge Primark official open date announced

Clothing giant Primark is set to officially open in Uxbridge in March, the company have announced.

A countdown clock on the bargain place's website has said the store will be open for business on Saturday, March 25.

Primark Uxbridge will be across two floors and will have entrances from both High Street and Chequers Square.

The opening of the discount fashion store has been in the works since 2014 and was not officially announced until September 2015.

Teen arrested by immigration officers at Bar Italia in Uxbridge

An 18-year-old man who was is in the UK illegally has been arrested at Bar Italia in Uxbridge by immigration officers.

A team from the Home Office attended the restaurant and bar at around 10pm on Sunday January 14 where they arrested the Albanian man who is now waiting to be removed from the country.

The Home Office said the arrest was intelligence-led.

A customer eating at the Nonna Rosa Italian, which is next door to Bar Italia, at the time described the moment an immigration van pulled up outside.

Wembley Murder: Teenager named as university student who was 'stabbed to death'

A teenager who was stabbed to death near Wembley Stadium has been named as university student Djodjo Nsaka.

The 19-year-old was from Streatham studying Business at the University of Middlesex in Brent .

His next of kin have been informed and the arrested man has been released with no further questions, as investigations continue into the murder.

A spokesperson from the hospital said: "The cause of death was a single stab wound to the chest."

Ruislip burglary: Man hit in head with concrete and another hospitalised

The terrifying incident happened in Victoria Road

A shocking incident unfolded in Ruislip on Thursday night (January 19) when a group of men tried to burgle a property while four people were still inside.

A man was hit in the head with a piece of concrete by one of the suspects and a second person was hospitalised after being sprayed in the face with an unknown liquid, prompting a Metropolitan Police investigation.

Police officers were called to Victoria Road just before 10pm after reports of a burglary.

Hounslow crash: Woman who died following collision in Green Lane is named

A woman who died after being hit by a car in Hounslow on Tuesday (January 17) has been named by friends as Himanshi Gupta.

Metropolitan Police said a woman in her 20s had died in hospital after a collision with a car in Green Lane , which also left another woman in her 20s with life changing injuries.

On social media, the woman who died has been named as Himanshi Gupta, with many taking to Twitter and Facebook to pay tribute to her.
