Police warn there may be more victims of Harrow man who sexually assaulted lone women at night

Sinuthujaan Yoganathan preyed on women in Perivale, Northolt, Rayners Lane and Harrow-on-the-Hill

A detective has warned there may have been more victims of a man who has been jailed after a series of sexual attacks on lone women at night in Ealing and Harrow.

Sinuthujaan Yoganathan of St Margaret's Avenue, Harrow was found guilty of five sexual assaults and one attempted sexual assault after a three-week trial at Isleworth Crown Court in June.

The 33-year-old was sentenced to a total of nine years in prison on Thursday (September 14) and was also served with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to control his behaviour when released from prison.

Yoganathan preyed on lone women at night in Harrow, Perivale and Northolt between April 2016 and July 2016, the police said.

Detective Inspector Tom Williams, who led the investigation, said: "This sentence shows how seriously the court takes these types of offences.

"I would like to once again commend the victims on their courage throughout the investigation and trial.

"The defendant has shown no remorse and denied the offences throughout, changing his account to fit the evidence.

"The jury saw through his lies and found him guilty of these attacks.

"It is possible that there may be other, unreported victims of Yoganathan, or even similar attacks.

"We would urge them to come forward, and be assured that we will thoroughly investigate any offences reported to us."

On July 10, 2016, Yoganathan was captured on CCTV walking past his victim before watching her from his car for 20 minutes until she walked to a secluded area off Eastcote Lane, South Harrow, where he sexually assaulted her.

Despite the nature of his crimes, police were unable to find DNA evidence but officers spotted a white Audi A6, similar to one used in one of the attacks, and identified Yoganathan.

A search of his home uncovered a distinctive Scotland football shirt like the one worn by the attacker on July 10.

He was then positively identified by five of his victims, but told police they were mistaken.

Yoganathan then went on to change his story in court, giving a completely account of events.

Confronted with the CCTV footage, he blamed an acquaintance for attempting to frame him by using his car and shirt in the attack but later accepted it was him.

Yoganathan was convicted of sexual assaults against a woman in Ceceil Manning Close, Perivale, on April 24 2016.

On July 3 2016 he attacked another woman, in Hapgood Close, Northolt and another woman in Eastcote Lane, South Harrow on July 10 2016.

He was convicted of two sexual assaults on women on July 16 2016, in Alexandra Avenue, Rayners Lane and Herga Court in Harrow-on-the-Hill.

The following day he attempted to sexually assault a woman in Acock Grove, Northolt.
