Police investigating the death of an elderly man in Kensington on Friday night (September 23) say they have tracked down the driver of the lorry involved in the incident and that he is helping with enquiries.

The 71-year-old man died after he was involved in a collision with a HGV that did not stop at the scene and police launched an appeal on Saturday (September 24) to find the driver.

Investigating officers form the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said at the time they were unsure if the driver was aware he had been involved in an incident.

The driver, a man in his forties, has been identified and police say they have spoken with him.

He has not been arrested.

The collision happened at around 9.25pm outside Earl's Court station in Earl's Court Road.

Emergency services attended the scene and the man was taken to hospital where he sadly died.

His next of kin has been informed but police await formal identification.

The Metropolitan Police are still asking for witnesses to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101.
