Detectives investigating footage of a Muslim woman being verbally abused in what appears to be a hate crime-related incident have identified a man in connection with the incident.

It comes after the video, recorded by the victim while she was being abused for wearing a face veil by a customer in her shop in Shepherd’s Bush, was shared on social media.

Now police in Hammersmith and Fulham say they have spoken to a 39-year-old man under caution on April 7. He has not been arrested and enquires continue.

The investigation follows a confrontation on April 2 at the shop on the Uxbridge Road, near to Shepherd’s Bush Market.

Earlier this week police said they had identified and visited the 24-year-old victim and offered her on-going support and advice.

They had also appealed for the man in the video to contact them and assist with their enquiries.
