Police managed to safely rescue a man who was threatening to jump from a bridge near Hayes.

The bridge runs over the A408 Stockley road which heads towards the M4.

An eye-witness said: "I was driving along and I saw people on the bridge and police cars.

"There was a man who looked like he was about to jump off and police were convincing him to come down."

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed that officers were called at 1.15pm on Friday (12 June).

He was made safe shortly after by around 1.40pm.
