A police officer was taken to hospital after injuring himself chasing a suspected drug dealer through Notting Hill .

Officers were on patrol in Ladbroke Grove on Saturday (August 6) at around 8pm when they tried to detain a man at the junction with Arundel Gardens. The man ran off and two officers set off in pursuit.

One of the officers was injured during the chase, though police said he had not been assaulted by the suspect.

The male officer was taken by ambulance to a central London hospital with injuries police said were not believed to be life-threatening.

The male suspect was stopped and arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs.

Police said on Sunday (August 7) morning that he remained in custody at a central London police station.

Road closures were in place as officers investigated the incident, and police said enquiries were ongoing.
