Police investigating an armed robbery in Paddington have this afternoon arrested two men. 

The men who are both in their 20s were arrested in Kilburn on suspicion of armed robbery. They are currently in custody at a central London police station.

Police were called at shortly after 1am on Tuesday, April 22, to reports of an armed robbery in at a flat in Westbourne Gardens. A group of men were thought to have forced their way into the premises - two armed with handguns and one with a knife.

Three men stood outside the property while the robbery took place. The four who entered the property were described as black and wearing masks. There were seven men involved in total.

A victims, a 51-year-old man and his 47-year-old wife, and another man aged 59 were at the property at the time. The victims are all United Arab Emirates (UAE) nationals. They were threatened by the raiders, who then made off with phones, cash, passports and identity documents.

Two mobile phones, around 4,000 in UAE Dirhams (around £650), £2,400 in cash, two passports handbags and bank card were taken. The occupants were not injured during the incident and did not require hospital treatment.

Police are being assisted by their counterparts in UAE and a senior police officer from the UAE is currently in London working alongside Metropolitan Police officers.
