A man has been arrested for an offence under the Terrorism Act after landing on a flight at Heathrow Airport .

The 39-year-old was picked up on Saturday (September 17) on suspicion of possessing terrorist related material under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

The man was arrested under PACE legislation and taken to a west London police station where he remains in custody.

The Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command (SO15) is investigating.

Earlier in the week a teenager from Hounslow appeared in court accused of plotting to carry out a mass-casualty terror attack in London. Haroon Ali-Syed was arrested on September 8 and appeared in court on Tuesday (September 13) .

He is next due to appear at the Old Bailey on Monday (September 19) having been remanded in custody.

Two other men arrested at the same time have been released on police bail pending further investigation.
