A murder investigation has been launched after a man was repeatedly stabbed to death in Southall .

Police were called to reports of an injured man on Spikes Bridge Road at 11.12pm on Saturday (July 30).

Ambulance crews also attended and found a 33-year-old suffering from a number of stab wounds.

He was taken to a London hospital but died on Sunday (July 31) at 6.30am.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, and taken to a north London police station, where he remains in custody.

Officers believe they know the identity of the victim but are waiting for formal identification.

A post mortem examination is yet to take place.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating, under Detective Chief Inspector Mark Lawson.

He said: “I need to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious, especially in the Viking Road and Spikes Bridge Road area from around 11pm on Saturday night.

“I also want to trace a car which was seen driving in the area immediately before the assault. The car, which may be a Vauxhall, is thought to have contained three or four males.”
