Police are hunting an arsonist who is believed to have torched a camper van in Hounslow with the owner's dog inside.

The vehicle was destroyed after being set alight in Kevin Close, Hounslow, on the night of Saturday, July 2, according to detectives.

The fire was started between 11.45pm on Saturday and 12.20am the following day, say officers who are investigating the incident.

Police said the dog was treated for smoke inhalation and burns, but it is not known whether the animal survived.

London Fire Brigade said it had been called at 12.14am on Sunday, July 3, and had sent crews in two engines from Feltham fire station, who spent 15 minutes battling the flames.

Police said the LFB had deemed the fire to have been started deliberately.

They have asked for anyone who saw or heard anything that night, or who has private CCTV which may provide some clues, to get in touch.
