The long arm of the law came to the rescue as police in Harrow helped deliver a baby boy.

Two officers were on routine patrol in Kenton Road, Harrow, when they were flagged down by a van driver on Easter Monday (March 28) at around 1.30pm.

The constables helped deliver the passenger's baby, who was born onto a Metropolitan Police fleece.

The London Ambulance Service was called and took the mother and her newborn, called Alex, to a hospital in north-west London.

The male police officers took to social media to share the happy news, tweeting: "A special Easter delivery, delivered by officers from Harrow police on Kenton Road this morning. Named Alex."

In January, first-time parents in Ruislip had a surprise when a sudden arrival meant the father had to deliver their baby himself in their bedroom.
