A search for human remains in the garden of an Isleworth home has concluded with nothing found, but police say the investigation is ongoing.

Officers last week began excavating the backyard of a house in Epworth Road, near Syon Lane station, where they said it was believed a body or bodies may have been buried during the 1980s.

On Wednesday (April 1), a police spokesman told getwestlondon the excavation had finished with no body or body parts discovered, but he said enquiries were continuing.

Police revealed last week that a man and a woman, aged in their 90s and 80s, had been interviewed under caution in relation to the search.

They said the investigation was not linked to the property's current occupier.

The investigation is being led by DCI Noel McHugh, of the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command.

It is not being linked to any other operation by the force and police said the identity of any possible victim is not known.
