Metropolitan Police detectives are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Hounslow .

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) at 5.45pm on Friday (September 30) to Bath Road in Cranford following reports of a car in collision with a child.

Officers from LAS and London's Air Ambulance attended. The 11-year-old boy was taken to a west London hospital, and unfortunately died at 6.57pm.

Next of kin have been informed. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

The car, a black Volkswagen Polo, stopped at the scene. The driver was not arrested but is helping police with their enquiries.

The incident is being investigated by detectives from the Metropolitan Police's Serious Collisions Investigations Unit.
