A male pedestrian has died following a collision with a lorry in Victoria , prompting a police appeal for witnesses.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in Buckingham Palace Road, near Victoria Coach Station, on Wednesday (June 1) afternoon.

Police said they were called to the scene, at the junction with Elizabeth Street, at 3.38pm and officers attended along with medics from London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance.

They said officers were in the process of identifying and contacting the man's next of kin, and no arrests had been made.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene, they added, and was assisting with enquiries.

Road closures have been put in place while emergency services deal with the incident.
