Pokemon GO users have been warned to stay alert after phones were snatched from two players absorbed in the hunt on the same day in Westminster .

Officers urged players of the hugely popular augmented reality game to "be aware of your surroundings".

Police in Westminster issued the warning on Friday (July 22) after a single officer reported dealing with two mobile thefts related to the game that day.

Drivers have previously been warned of the dangers of playing the game while behind the wheel.

For those of you somehow remaining oblivious to the craze, Pokemon GO is a game in which players use their phones to track down and capture cartoon monsters hidden in real locations.

Phone owners are advised to keep a copy of their mobile's IMEI number , which is needed if it is lost or stolen.

They should also register it on Immobilise to help police return the phone if it is recovered.
