An 18-year-old beauty queen from Pinner who already holds the title of Miss Middlesex is hoping to take the national title later this month in the Miss England grand final.

Rachel Monfort-Tennant won the regional Miss Middlesex contest in 2015 and 2016, and is now hoping to top the other 48 contestants remaining in the Miss England competition.

The final will be held between July 19 and 21 in Southport, Merseyside.

Rachel said: “I am truly honoured and feel so very privileged to represent the wonderful county of Middlesex where I was born and have lived all my life.

She is a student at the Arts Educational School in Chiswick , studying drama and dance as she hopes to become an actress.

Rachel has praised her 99-year-old grandmother Vera as her inspiration.

'She is such an inspiration'

She said: “My grandma is my role model. She is such an inspiration to me in every way and encourages all my hopes and dreams. I treasure every moment I get with her.

“Like my grandma, I hope to be able to make a difference in people's lives.”

An Isleworth woman previously told getwestlondonhow reaching the finals of a plus-size beauty pageant boosted her confidence.

The field for Miss England has been narrowed down from 22,000 but Rachel needs the public's help to be in with a chance of winning the prestigious national title.

Voting opened on Friday (July 1) and the public's favourite will be fast tracked through to the final 15.

A shot at the world title

The overall winner of Miss England will also represent the country at the Miss World contest in the United States later this year.

The rounds in the nationwide competition include charity, popularity, publicity, social media, eco, intelligence, sports and talent.

As her talent Rachel has opted to perform a William Shakespeare monologue.

Public voting is open until July 21 at midday.

Rachel is also raising money for the Miss England charity Beauty with a purpose which helps underprivileged children around the world.
