This shocking photo shows the aftermath of a car fire which tore through a silver Jaguar during rush hour on Wednesday (August 9).

The five door saloon has been completely destroyed in the blaze, leaving it almost unrecognisable with the engine a smoking wreck and the roof torn off.

Debris litters the side of the motorway as smoke billows out from the engine, and the heat from the fire was so intense the inside of the car has been gutted.

Firefighers attended the scene at sliproad from junction 1a of the M40 northbound to junction 16 of the M25 anti-clockwise near Uxbridge at around 7.30am.

One appliance and crew from Beaconsfield and two from High Wycombe attended.

Firefighters use one hose reel, two sets of breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera.

The link road was closed while the emergency services tackled the fire, with delays stretching back to Hillingdon during hour which eased later on into the morning.
