Commuters hoping to get to work on the Piccadilly Line face another horrific morning of travelling after shuttle bus and train replacements are announced for west London.

The London Underground line's twitter account announced there are "severe delays while [they] carry out repairs to [their] trains", leaving many to get a shuttle bus from Acton town to Rayners Lane.

In a problem which stretches back to the middle of last month (November) , Transport for London (TfL) says a number of its trains have been pulled out of service for repairs to its wheels.

Although talks were successful between rail union RMT and Transport for London (TfL) , the repair works continue and are expected to cause disruption for weeks.

When will it end?

We have put together a handy guide on what is causing the delays, when they are LIKELY to end, and what the situation is with refunds.

A spokesman for the London Underground said: “We have had conditions improve and they’re not being damaged as much as they were - but it will depend on the weather.”

How to find out if you're entitled to a refund

In line with their refund policy, TfL have said on their website that “customers using the Piccadilly line who have had their journeys delayed by 15 minutes or more will be refunded the full cost of the single fare for each affected journey.”

Refunds will be backdated to Thursday, November 24.

For Oyster users: refunds will be applied automatically when the card is touched in or out on the ticket gate at their selected station.

For Contactless payment: users will have the amount refunded directly to their bank or credit card account.

However, they did add that due to the demand in refunds, it may take a few days before appearing.

How long will it be before the repair works are completed?

Many commuters have naturally asked how long they can expect disruption for, so we put the question to TfL.

So far, there have been delays on the line, which runs from west London right through to Central, for around 3 weeks.

They told getwestlondon: “We dont have a timeline for it exactly, the problem with the wheels between November 23-25th took out two days to fix the trains.

“As it currently stands, it takes two days to fix the train and we are getting out two trains a day. So far, we have done 56 trains and to run a good service you need 79.

“This all depends on whether more don’t get damaged due to weather conditions.”
