A petition for the profits of the England vs France match at Wembley Stadium to be donated to relief efforts following the Paris attacks has passed the 50,000 mark.

129 people were killed in multiple attacks in the French capital on Friday night.

Explosions could also be heard during France's friendly with Germany at the Stade de France, with police later confirming three people were killed outside the stadium.

It was suggested France's friendly at Wembley on Tuesday would be cancelled but it will now go ahead as planned, with armed security patrolling at the stadium.

A petition to FA chief Greg Dyke has been set up for profits to go to both the French Red Cross and Medecins Sans Frontieres.

The page was set up on Sunday afternoon and reached the landmark of signatures within a matter of hours.

The post reads: "Ten years ago, Parisians stood shoulder to shoulder with Londoners after the 7 July bombings. Today, England and France are united in grief.

"The English and French football associations should commit to donate the profits of the game to these two charities, so that some good can come out of the barbarism seen on Friday night.

"Please sign this petition, and we will make Tuesday’s England v France game a symbol of friendship and fraternité."
