A person has died after they were hit by a train in Wembley.

British Transport Police (BTP) were called to Sudbury & Harrow Road station just before 4.30pm on Wednesday (August 24) to reports of someone being struck by a train.

However, officers and paramedics were unable to help the person, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

A photo on Twitter appeared to show police officers on the tracks near the station’s platform.

BTP say it is working to identify the deceased and inform next of kin.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

The fatality resulted in line closures between London Marylebone and West Ruislip , but these have now reopened.

However, delays could still be expected as services return to normal.
