A person has died at Southall station after being hit by a train on Thursday (September 8) afternoon.

Paramedics were called to the scene at around 2pm after there were reports of the incident.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police (BTP) told getwestlondon: "Officers are on scene alongside the London Ambulance Service.

"A person has been pronounced dead.

"We are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

"We are not treating this incident as suspicious."

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 2.05pm today, 8 September to reports of an incident at Southall station.
"We sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and our Hazardous Area Response Team to the scene.

"The first of our medics arrived at the scene in under one minute.
"Sadly, a person died at the scene.”

Southall station was closed and trains in the Paddington, Heathrow Aiport and Reading area have been delayed by an hour and passengers are told to check for travel updates whilst commuting.

Bus routes near the station however are now running as normal following tailbacks.

Commuters who are using the Heathrow Express have reduced service.
