A pensioner has helped raise money for by selling plastic bags on the street.

Retired Ray Bellisario braved lousy weather to to sell the bags on Kings Street in Hammersmith on February 20.

The inclement weather meant the 80-year-old from Heston , was only able to collect money be selling plastic bags for 1p for about an hour.

But he still managed to raise around £30 during that time for Guide Dogs charity.

It is not the first time the former Royal photographer was raised money in this manner, doing the same thing outside The Treaty Centre in Hounslow in the run-up to Christmas.

Mr Bellisario said: “Bags now cost 5p in the shops so they’re getting a bargain of me!

“To be honest the weather was a bit gross so I was only out there for an hour but I still raised £30.

“I probably sold 15-20 plastic bags but people donated money without wanting a bag.

“Some people were very kind, but some didn’t have the time to stop, especially in the weather.”
