Metropolitan Police detectives investigating the Parsons Green terror attack have released three men with no further action.

A 25-year-old man who was arrested in Newport on Tuesday (September 19), a 30-year-old man who was arrested on Wednesday (September 20) also in Newport and a 20-year-old man who was arrested in Cardiff on Monday (September 25) were all released on Tuesday afternoon (September 26).

In total, seven people have been arrested so far as part of the investigation.

One person, 18-year-old Ahmed Hassan of Sunbury in Surrey, has been charged after being arrested in Dover, Kent on Saturday September 16.

He will face the following charges within the jurisdiction of the Central Criminal Court:

  • On September 15 2017 attempted to murder persons travelling on a District Line Train from Wimbledon, contrary to section 1(1) Criminal Attempts Act 1981.
  • On September 15 2017 maliciously caused by triacetone triperoxide (TATP) or other explosive substance and explosion of a nature likely to endanger life or to cause serious injury to property, contrary to section 2 Explosive Substances Act 1883.

He was remanded in custody after appearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday (September 22) and will appear at the Old Bailey on Friday October 13.

All of the other six men were released with no further action.

According to police, searches continue at one address in Cardiff.
