Omid Saidy, 20, was stabbed to death as he tried to chase away an alleged drug dealer in Parsons Green Lane, Fulham on Monday evening (October 16).

A community youth worker, Omid's death has shaken a part of west London not used to violent crime.

A murder investigation into the events that led to Omid's death, in which two other men received stab injuries, has been launched.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday (October 19), the detective in charge of the murder investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh, said: "Omid was a young man who tried to confront a drug dealer and ultimately paid with his life.

"His family have been left devastated by his death and have not yet been able to find the words to describe their loss."

The many tributes left to the 20-year-old paint a picture of a much-loved community member who wanted to help those around him.

A 16-year-old charged with Omid's murder appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Thursday (October 19). He will appear at the Old Bailey on Monday (October 23) also charged with threatening another man.

Police are still trying to find and identify a black male believed to be a key suspect and who fled the scene.
