Two men have been jailed after they stole thousands of pounds from an elderly man while he was shopping in a supermarket in High Street Hounslow .

Aural Tomo, 32, and 37-year-old Costel Niculae have both been handed prison sentences after they tricked their victim and stole £3,250 from him.

On July 10 this year, they followed the man from a local bank on the high street where he had withdrawn the savings.

He was then followed into Iceland and after distracting the man, they stole the cash from his trolley.

A spokesman for Hounslow Police said: "We took to our Facebook and Twitter to ask our followers to help us identify the suspects.

"Due to your assistance we were able to follow up a lead and two suspects were arrested by Hounslow Town Centre Team."

The pair pleaded guilty at Isleworth Crown Court

Toma and Niculae pleaded guilty at Isleworth Crown Court on October 12.

Tomo was sentenced to 18 months in prison while Niculae received a 16-month prison sentence.
