A person has sadly died after they were struck by a train at Oxford Circus station.

British Transport Police (BTP) officers were called at around 2.20pm on Wednesday (October 4).

London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade also attended the scene after the person was hit by a westbound Central Line train.

Oxford Street station is closed and passengers have been evacuated.

Man died at the scene

A man has died after being hit by a train at Oxford Circus station, British Transport Police confirmed.

The incident happened at around 2.20pm, westbound, on the Central Line.

Sadly the male could not be saved.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious, BTP said.

There are now minor delays on the Central Line.

TfL has changed its status from severe to ‘minor delays’.

Its website states: ‘Minor delays due to an earlier customer incident.’

Trains are not stopping at Oxford Circus and there are severe delays

Buses are back to their usual line of route

Buses were earlier placed on divert following the incident.

Officers are working to identify the person

A British Transport Police spokesman said:

“Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

“This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
