It's official - Oxford Street is the busiest street in Europe.

French multinational banking group and real estate group BNP Paribas compiled a list of the busiest streets in Europe, ranked by footfall.

Two London streets made the top 30.

The data was released in the firm's annual Pan-European Footfall Analysis, which crowned Oxford Street the busiest in Europe with 13,560 pedestrians an hour on average.

The figure puts its head and shoulders above second place Kaufingerstraße in Munich, which averaged 12,832 an hour.

It probably helped that of Europe's biggest cities, London pulled in by far the most tourists with 19.06million in 2016, 3.6million more than Paris, which came second.

Regent Street, which bisects Oxford Street, also raked in a healthy 9,252 pedestrians an hour, making it the ninth busiest street in Europe.

Although it did not rank in the top 30, Old Bond Street managed 5,564 pedestrians an hour but also pulled in the highest retail rents at €1,781 per square metre per month, due to its attractive Mayfair location.

The going rate in Oxford Street is €1,119 and €916 on Regent Street.

Paris' Av. des Champs Elysées made it to the fifth spot but was the busiest 'luxury' street in Europe, with 10,216 pedestrians an hour but had the most expensive rent in Europe, at €1,833 per square metre per month

Despite claiming the top spot, the UK is not the most bustling country, with Spain claiming a total of five streets in Europe's top 10.

Paris' Av. des Champs Elysées made it to the fifth spot but was the busiest 'luxury' street in Europe, with 10,216 pedestrians an hour.

Outside the West End, Chelsea's King's Road and Sloane Street performed respectably with 1,802 and 708 pedestrians an hour respectively.
