Oxford Street collision: Pedestrian dies from injuries sustained in crash with cyclist

The woman, 73, was taken to a central London hospital with serious head injuries but died on Wednesday (September 14)

The female pedestrian who was involved in a collision with a cyclist in Oxford Street has died from her injuries.

The 73-year-old woman was taken to a central London hospital following the incident on Tuesday (September 12) afternoon, but died in the early hours of Wednesday.

Scotland Yard is calling on people in the area at the time to contact officers.

Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision at 4.29pm, later saying the pedestrian had suffered head injuries which it described as life threatening.

The incident saw Oxford Street closed in both directions between Davies Street and Duke Street, while police investigate.

Buses were also placed on diversion.

The collision is being investigated by the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command .

It wants to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision, or the moments leading up to it, and in particularly to anyone who filmed the collision.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

The pedestrian’s next of kin have been informed.
