An overturned lorry trailer has blocked a road in Ealing , with drivers warned to expect delays for a "considerable time".

Police said they were called to The Vale, in Acton , at 3.50pm on Wednesday (June 22) to reports of a large lorry whose "whole carriage had come off".

A Met spokesman said there were no injuries reported, and neither the London Ambulance Service nor London Fire Brigade are understood to have attended the scene.

Sergeant Guy Rooney, of Ealing Police, tweeted to say the lorry was on its side with the load over the road, which he said was likely to be shut for a "considerable" time.

He added that bus routes 70, 207, 266 and 607 were subject to diversion and delays in both directions.

There were also reports on Wednesday afternoon of serious delays further east at Permbridge Villas, in Bayswater, near Notting Hill , due to waterworks.

Travel reports said a burst water main was causing diversions and delays southbound, affected bus routes 27, 28, 31 and 328.

But a spokesman for Thames Water said it was actually planned water pipe repair work, and the necessary permits were in place.
